EXCELSIOR CLASS
The Excelsior Class Starship is the "workhorse" of Starfleet. It was introduced in the 23rd Century and it is still widely used by Starfleet in the 24th Century. The class was designed for the use of the Transwarp drive. This experiement failed onboard the USS Excelsior, so it was
converted to use standard warp drives. A refit was done on some Excelsior-Class Starships, their defensive systems were upgraded to standards. The length of the Excelsior Class is 467 M. The Enterprise NCC-1701B was an Excelsior Class starship.

SOVEREIGN CLASS
The Sovereign Class Starship is an explorer, it is the largest (in length [685 M]) ship seen in Star Trek. It has 26 decks and is the one of the most advanced ships in Starfleet, equipped with the latest weaponry such as quantum torpedoes. The Enterprise NCC-1701E is a Sovereign Class starship.

AMBASSADOR CLASS
The Ambassador Class Starship is the successor of the Excelsior Class. It was a warship built to fight the Klingon empire. The Ambassador is smaller than the Galaxy Class but larger than the Excelsior Class. Because of it's age, the Ambassador class is now kept out of combat
situations. The length of the Ambassador Class is 526 M. The Enterprise NCC-1701C was an Ambassador Class Starship.

MIRANDA CLASS
Miranda-class starships have been an essential part of Starfleet for almost 100 years; the ships have a highly adaptable design that allows various modules to be attached to the rear of the vessel. The design of the Soyuz class is closely related. The Miranda class of starships and its variants are part of Starfleet by the late 2270s, and remain in service in the 2370s. They have a multipurpose design and are used on scientific, military and exploration missions.

PROMETHEUS CLASS
The U.S.S Prometheus is the latest product of Starfleet's continuing starship development program. It is a ship designed as much for battle as for exploration.

The U.S.S. Prometheus NX-59650, launched in 2374, is one of the most advanced ships in Starfleet. It is an experimental prototype vessel that has been designed for deep space tactical assignments, and the systems it employs are at the cutting edge of Federation technology. The basic design is similar to that of other large Starfleet vessels; it has a stretched, diamond-shaped front section, and, like Constellation class ships, it has four warp nacelles.

Classified Information The Prometheus is so highly classified that only four people have been trained to operate the bridge. Access to all-important onboard systems, including communications, is restricted to personnel with level 4 clearance or above. In an emergency, all systems can be routed to the bridge, making it impossible to access them from other locations.

In 2374, the Prometheus is the fastest ship in Starfleet, and can sustain a stable cruising velocity of warp 9.9. It has particularly advanced tactical systems, and is equipped with regenerative shielding and ablative armor as well as phasers and torpedoes.

Most significantly, the Prometheus is designed for multivector assault; the ship is actually made up of three distinct modules, each of which is heavily armed. In the multivector assault mode, these modules separate and attack a single target, making the Prometheus a formidable weapon that can easily destroy a Nebula class ship or a Romulan Warbird.

The bridge has the same layout as most other Federation vessels but, as the Prometheus is primarily designed for battle, the design has been simplified.

The Prometheus makes much greater use of holographic systems than earlier vessels. The entire ship is fitted with holographic projectors, meaning that the EMH can appear anywhere; this enables him to treat injuries sustained during battle as quickly as possible. The ship is fitted with the prototype EMH Mark II. Programmed specifically for the Prometheus, it can identify the crew on sight; if it encounters any other Starfleet officers it automatically requests their rank and security clearance. This program's holomatrix is still unstable when starfleet conducts field tests on the ship.

The ship has a state-of-the art sickbay that has been programmed to deal automatically with several medical emergencies. For example, in the case of microbiotic contamination, the computers will open the ventilation system.

Dangerous first mission The Prometheus is launched in 2374, and sent on a deep space mission toward the edge of Federation space. During this mission, it is captured by Romulans, who attempt to take it to Romulan space and hand it over to the Tal Shiar. However, the Romulans are defeated by the ship's EMH program and the Doctor from the U.S.S Voyager NCC-74656, who has been transmitted to the Prometheus from the Delta Quadrant via a network of subspace relays.

STARSHIP FACTS
The U.S.S. Prometheus has a state-of-the-art sickbay with all the latest equipment, including recently developed devices such as a thrombic modulator. Anyone entering the sickbay walks straight into the main diagnostic and surgical area. There are several desks around the room, and it is dominated by a surgical biobed. In addition to the captain's chair, the Prometheus bridge contains duty stations for engineering, environmental, master systems control, tactical, conn, and communications. If necessary, the entire bridge can be manned by just four people; only the conn, engineering, and tactical stations are provided with seating.

GALAXY CLASS
The Galaxy Class Starship is designed to be an explorer. It has a large primary hull (saucer section) and a secondary hull (stardrive section) below it. These two sections are able to separate into two ships, each with their own command centers (Main Bridge for saucer and Battle Bridge for stardrive). The stardrive section is warp-capable, while the saucer section has impulse power only. A Galaxy Class Starship has 46 Decks and a compliment of about 1000
(including civillians). The length of the Galaxy Class Starship is 641 M. At least six Galaxy Class starships have been built by Starfleet. The Enterprise NCC-1701D was a Galaxy Class starship.

INTREPID CLASS
The Intrepid Class Starship is a scout ship, with 15 decks and a length of 344 M. It has a maximum warp speed of 9.975 due to it's small size and advance warp system. The nacelles rise when the ship is in warp, which slows the damage of warp drive to subspace. The Intrepid Class also has the ability to land and take off from planets. There are at least four Intrepid Class Starships in Starfleet. USS Voyager is an Intrepid Class starship.

NEBULA CLASS
The Nebula Class Starship is a multi-purpose vessel. It has a large primary hull similar to the saucer section of a Galaxy Class starship and a removable module on top of the engineering hull, this module can be customized for each mission. There are many different types of modules such as a weapons module for combat missions, and a sensor module for scientific missions. The Nebula Class Starship is 440 M in length.

DEFIANT CLASS
The Defiant Class Starship is a warship built to fight the Borg. It is very small in size with only four decks, and a length of 170 M, making it maneuverable in combat. The Defiant Class Starship only requires a crew of about 45 to run it. There are very few luxuries onboard, quarters are shared and the sickbay and shuttlebay are compact. The USS Defiant is equiped with ablative armour, phaser cannons, quantum torpedoes and a cloaking device (on loan from the Romulans). At least four Defiant Class Starships have been built by Starfleet.
