CAPTAIN JEAN-LUC PICARD
was born on Earth in LaBarre, France in 2305 to Maurice and Yvette Gessard Picard. His older brother, Robert was married to Marie. They had one son, Rene. Robert and Rene were killed in a house fire circa 2371. Picard was admitted to the Academy in 2323. He graduated in 2327. As a Lieutenant onboard the Stargazer, Picard took charge of the bridge when the captain was killed. For his service during the emergency, Picard was offered command of the Stargazer and promoted from Lieutenant to Captain. He commanded the Stargazer for some 20 years.

The ship was attacked and nearly destroyed in 2355 by an unprovoked attack near the Maxia Zeta star system. The surviving crew members, including Picard drifted for weeks in a shuttle craft before being rescued. Captain Picard took command of the fifth Enterprise in 2363. Picard was abducted by the Borg in 2366 and was surgically altered into an entity called Locutus of Borg. Picard became the Klingon Arbiter of Succession in 2367 following the death of K'mpec, leader of the high councel.

COMMANDER WILLIAM THOMAS RIKER
was born in Valdez, Alaska, on Earth in 2335. His mother died when he was 2 years old and he was raised by his father, Kyle Riker who abandoned his son at the age of 15 and did not see him again until 2365, at the age of 30, when they reunited onboard the Enterprise D. Riker graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2357 and was ranked 8th in his class upon graduation. His first assignment was aboard the USS Pegasus, a ship that disappeard under mysterious circumstances.

Later, Riker was stationed on Betazed, where he met and became romantically involved with then psychology student Deanna Troi. Then, as a Lieutenant, he accepted appoinment to the USS Potemkin, where he was involved in a rescue mission to planet Nervala IV and was subsequently promoted to Lieutenant Commander. Riker was later promoted to Executive Officer onboard the USS Hood under the command of Captain Robert DeSoto. Turning down command of the USS Drake, Riker was transfered to the Enterprise D in 2364.

COUNSELOR DEANNA TROI
As a half-human, half-Betazoid she has empathic powers that allow her to read the emotions of others (except for Ferengi). She has full telepathy with her Betazoid mother, Lwaxana Troi, who is an eccentric aristocrat of Betazed's fifth house, one of the oldest and richest families on the planet, and holder of the sacred chalice of Riix. Lwaxana is a woman steeped in tradition, outspoken, and somewhat of an embarrassment to her daughter, but she loves Deanna very much. Deanna's father was a Starfleet officer named Ian Andrew, who died when she was a baby. In the 7th season it is discovered that Deanna had an older sister who drowned on a picnic at about the age of seven.

Deanna and Will Riker knew each other before either one was posted to the Enterprise-D. They had a love affair and almost married, but Riker was called away by his carreer. She still refers to him as her Imzadi. She once gave birth to an alien child, whose conception was mysterious and whose life was very brief. She named him Ian Andrew after her father. For a time she helped Worf care for his son, Alexander, and as a result she and Worf have become very close friends. In alternate universes, seen in "Parallels", Deanna and Worf are married and have children. Deanna loves chocolate more than any other food.

LIEUTENANT TASHA YAR
was born on a failed Federation colony on a planet called Turkana IV. When Tasha was only five years old her parents were killed, so she had to spend most of her youth in a terrible struggle for survival, avoiding the dangerous rape gangs and caring for her yonger sister, Ishara Yar. She also had to protect her "pet" cat, a stray that she adopted and took care of. At the age of 15 Tasha made the decision to leave Turkana IV and join Starfleet, which her sister, who stayed and fought, thought was a cowardly way out. While she was in Starfleet, she impressed Captain Jean-Luc Picard with her bravery and courage in rescuing a wounded colonist, making her way through a Carnellian mine field. Picard thus requested that she be transferred aboard the Enterprise-D in early 2364.

Yar was killed in late 2364 while participating in a mission to rescue Deanna Troi on Vagra II by the evil entity Armus.

ENSIGN WESLEY CRUSHER
was born in 2349, and was raised by his mother, Beverly Crusher, following the death of his father, Jack, in 2354 when Wesley was five years old. Wesley went to live on the Starship Enterprise-D in 2364, when his mother was assigned to that ship as Chief Medical Officer. Wesley spent little time with his father before his death, but recalled that Jack taught him to play baseball. Wesley entered Starfleet Academy in 2367 when a position opened up midterm in the current class.

Wesley returned to the Enterprise-D for a brief visit on stardate 45208, where he became very fond of mission specialist Robin Lefler. Crusher's sophomore year was marred by a serious incident in which he and other members of Nova Squadron attempted a prohibited maneuver, and cadet Joshua Albert died in the resulting accident.
Wesley Crusher became disenchanted with his studies at Starfleet and resigned his commission to the Academy in 2370, choosing instead to live among the American Indians on planet Dorvan V, aided by insight offered by the Traveler.

He has a brother Lore (who died in "Descent II") and a daughter Lal (born, lived, and presumed dead in "The Offspring"). He and Tasha Yar were "more than friends" ("The Naked Now") or as he said in "The Measure of a Man", "We were... intimate".

Dr. Noonien Soong was killed by Lore on stardate 44085.7 (in year 2367) ("Brothers"). Data dreams, and he has a female cat (originaly male in fact), called Spot. He resided on deck 2, room 3653 onboard the Enterprise-D.
LaForge helped Data to install the emotion chip in 2371 (about stardate 48450). It was learned that the chip can not be forcebly removed from Data ("Star Trek: Generations"). However, Data has the ability to turn it on or off. ("Star Trek: First Contact"). He was tempted by the Borg Queen's offer for 0.68 second in 2373 (stardate 50893.5). DOCTOR BEVERLY CRUSHER
Former Chief Medical Officer onboard the Enterprise-D. Crusher was born as Beverly Howard in 2324, and graduated from medical school in 2350. She was at the Arvada III colony, and helped her grandmother, Felisa Howard care for the survivors of that terrible tragedy. Although her grandmother was not a physician, she taught Beverly much about the medicinal uses of herbs and roots to help care for the sick and wounded after regular medical supplies had been exhausted.

Beverly was introduced to her future husband, Starfleet officer Jack Crusher, by their mutual friend Walker Keel. She married Jack in 2348, and they had a child, Wesley, the following year. As a young married couple, Beverly and her husband Jack spent a great deal of time with Jean-Luc Picard. She did not learn until many years later, that Picard had fallen in love with her, but he didn't act on his
feelings, as to not betray his friend.

Crusher did her internship on planet Delos IV under the
tutelage of Dr. Delan Quaice in 2352. Following her husband's death in 2354, Beverly continued to pursue her Starfleet career, attaining the position of CMO aboard the Enterprise-D in 2364. Crusher left the Enterprise-D in 2365 to accept a position as head of Starfleet Medical, but returned to the ship a year later, and was reunited with her son, Wesley. She now serves onboard the Enterprise-E.

LIEUTENANT WORF
Seperated from his own people at a very young age, Worf grew up under the guidance of human foster parents. Worf took over as Chief of Security after Tasha Yar's death. He met his 'mate', K'Ehleyr, who was murdered by his family's
enemy, Duras. But Worf's son, Alexander was already born. Worf struggled bringing him up on the Enterprise-D, but with
Troi's guidance, eventually the two lived together without the continuous fighting.

Worf continued to fight with his own personal dilema of being torn between loyalty to the Federation and to his Klingon heritage. Even now on Deep Space Nine, a recent episode faced Worf with losing his brother, and one of the final statements in the episode by Worf: 'I have no family'. Worf's personal life is kept mainly to himself. He spends his time in training and Klingon calisthetics. His prime focus presently, seems to be his duty. Worf was married to Jadzia Dax, until her tragic death.
